Priya Jain : Graphic Design

Priya Jain started her career as an engineer but had been always passionate about design. She decided to pursue her passion and finished her design education from Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore. She likes to explore new things which can be seen in the variety of her projects. Her work involves Branding, UI/UX, Book design, DIY crafts, illustration. Her main interest lies in illustration with a deep interest towards children’s book illustration. She is also a nature and animal lover. Most of her inspirations are from nature which give her the space for fresh ideas. Her weakness lies in Stationery, you will find a gamut of stationery in her house and she even uses all of them!!

Why are you a graphic designer:
I still remember the phase when I was unable to decide that I should live my life as an engineer to live upto other’s expectations or stand away from the herd and do what I am passionate about. And I now I know that I made the right decision. I have always looked into the details of a product, like it’s packaging, it’s form, its design. I could see a product or a creative and think in my head about how I could do it in my style and make it look different.

How Branding and Marketing of Colleges is Helping More and More Students to Be Aware

Today’s generation is very much brand conscious as they brain storm even over the brand of their clothes to the brand of their toothbrush. So, one can imagine the height a student will go before choosing the institute to pursue his/her education. And that is why there is so much need of branding and marketing of colleges, as it helps in understanding and comparing different colleges and helps them to know about various colleges in the first place.
Let’s take the example of MBA. It is the trendiest professional course in India. Everyone dreams of getting an MBA degree from the top brand names like Harvard, Stanford, The Wharton, Yale Xavier’s, IIMA and many others, because it can make them a millionaire or a billionaire. MBA is a degree which student of every stream or subject wants to have. But what will make a student to know about such colleges which can help them in getting that degree? Everybody knows about IIMs, but what about other colleges for MBA? Well, that is the part where branding and marketing comes.
By branding and marketing colleges do not aim to sell their college’s name but rather aims at letting the students know about their establishments where any student can come and get his/her dream fulfilled of having an MBA degree. Through branding colleges want to tell the students about the kind of experience they will get from their institute.
There are thousands of colleges in India, half of which are still unknown to students. All they need is branding and marketing of their college to make students aware of their existence and they can help number of students as well as themselves. Through this they can help all those students who fail to get into top ranking colleges and are forced to drop out for a year or more because they just don’t know about other existing colleges which can offer them the same degree one desires to have.

Here is a list of some of the best MBA colleges in India, which have used the same technique of branding and marketing to make students aware of their capabilities to enlighten a student’s future:

Here we had a chat with Rajesh Kumar, Founder and CEO, Inkoniq.

How was Inkoniq born (and when)?
Prior to starting Inkoniq, I was heading the key experiences division that focuses on the user experience and mobile apps at AOL. Around the time when AOL acquired huffington post, we had the option to continue whatever we’re doing or pursue our dreams.

The idea had been bubbling for the years and we saw an opportunity when we were laid off.
The biggest dilemma at that point was product or services. One of the things that was common among all us co-founders was that we were all ux driven. So, collectively we decided until we arrive at a product idea that we feel passionate about, we’ll start a service organisation focused UX design and mobile app development.

With the little bit of savings I had, three of the co-founders and myself started Inkoniq in Feb 2011 with a vision to be an iconic brand in the space of UX driven app development.

Aditi Dash : Graphic Designer, Visual Artist

Visual Artist | Wanderer | Womanimal

Aditi Dash completed her design studies & graduated from Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology, Bangalore. She is happiest in the vicinity of mountains, forests & oceans wandering about & exploring new spaces and things. This helps her evolve as an artist. In the past she has worked on a diverse range of projects that include, branding, Publication Design, illustration. She is currently exploring her range as an illustrator & enjoys experimenting with geometric shapes that merge seamlessly into fluid illustrations. She likes finding a balance between the rigid and the flexible.

Why are you a Graphic Designer? Did you attend school for fine art or design?
Although I was always inclined towards the creative aspect of things, I’d say my decision to study art & design was a spontaneous one. When I was younger, my parents encouraged me to draw & paint a lot. Growing older, other activities & interests started overshadowing my love for art a bit, but my creative curiosity never died.
Only after talking to a few friends who were applying to art school, did I realise that studying art & design was an option available for me. I was out of touch with my skills, but decided to go ahead & apply anyway. I’m glad I made this decision, because studying in Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology not only helped me grow as a visual artist, but also shaped me into a responsible & socially aware person. I learnt that design is not just a visual aid, but is in fact a powerful tool that can help bring about change.
I graduated with a diploma in visual communication.
