Business Standard ‘Quiz’ by Doosra
The brief was to project the quiz as a tough one for serious quizzers, and also retain an element of fun for non-serious quizzers.
We created a 3-ad campaign for the regional rounds followed by one more for the national finals.
The client also wanted a backdrop at the event to promote the Business Standard brand as well as the sponsors.
Rather than do a standard backdrop with just the logos, we decided to make the backdrop a quiz in itself. Each panel holds a lateral clue to a well-known brand-name. Some of the clues are simple and straightforward, some require a bit of thought, and some are for die-hard quizzers, who can connect the clues to the story behind the brand-name. The backdrop became the audience round for the quiz.
The National Finals had a different backdrop. An A-Z culled from brand logos. The audience had to identify the logos.

I love drawing my surroundings, and I think only through images I can express these experiences and impressions. Considering illustration as a medium, I find it easy for me to integrate a story, mood, atmosphere, people, settings etc while trying to communicate an experience.
Did you attend school for fine art or design?
Yes, I graduated with BFA in Applied art from college of fine arts Trivandrum, and then I pursued an MA in Illustration from University For The Creative Arts Farnham, UK.
You have a distinct style of illustration. How long did it take you to develop your style?
Thank you, I think having an individual style is very important also style is something that evolves gradually and not overnight. I believe when some one given more importance to his individuality rather than craft, that is when personal style start evolving. If an illustrator thinks that, style is something happens overnight, then may be they are imitating some one else style.

Wex Inc is a creative agency that focuses on effective communication giving the brands a unique identity. Art, music, books a typical Bong environment keeps the work space alive. A team of dedicated professionals make sure no matter what the outcome is the creative instinct never gets affected. We emphasise on the thought process and are always on the lookout for good thinkers. Our expertise lies in advertising and branding communication, direct mailer and social media.
What made you start Wex Inc?
When my best friend Adarsh and I started looking for an agency, who will give us good concepts for our dream ventures Roads and Collegify, we were not getting what we wanted. While most of them concentrated on basic designs we were looking for good conceptual works. We finally decided that the best way to meet our demands will be to get the things done by ourselves. This is how Wex was born in 2011.
Tell us about your designers/animators. Did they go into fine art or design schools? How do you pick them up?
Yes, they are from the school of life. We do not hire people based on their portfolios and to know exactly how we pick them please apply.
How would you define the design style at Wex Inc?
Here at Wex, we have a team coming from different backgrounds having plenty of stories to tell that gets reflected in our design. We never restrict ourselves to any particular school of design but try and explore as much as possible for the respective brand.
What does Wex Inc. do which sets it apart?
We do not do different jobs but do ordinary jobs differently.

Judging Preview – DesiCreative
Preeti Vyas
Chairwoman and Chief Creative officer, VGC
2015 D&AD Crafts for Advertising Jury
Why did you choose a career in advertising?
I did not chose the advertising profession, it chose me. Serendipity landed me at the doorstep of Contract advertising and I ended up working for one of India’s most creative persons; Mohammed Khan. That started my journey in advertising and lead me later to Trikaya Grey advertising and I became part of the dream team there.
Did you attend school for fine art, design or communications?
I graduated from the National Institute of Design and specialized in visual communication.
What role models did you have growing up? Or who has been the most influential personality on your career in advertising?
From Contract to Trikaya Grey to VGC – All these have been most inspirational colleagues and mentors, and have shaped my view of communication strategy and design. Not to mention that they have helped hone, I hope, a fine eye for craft.
