Why did you choose a career in digital?
After 15 years in above-the-line advertising on global brands, there was a restless energy to stop doing more of the same and to be an early adopter of newer forms of conversations with consumers. I have always believed that the communication must go where the customer goes and when the world gravitated towards the online space I wanted to be a few steps ahead, ready and waiting.

Did you attend school for fine art, design or communications?
I am a writer and I majored in English Literature and then in Journalism. I have UI/UX specialisations as well. That said, the only real learning curve in this field is on the job – and I would like to think that I will always be an eager student.

Ola Air by Happy, Bangalore

Ola – the app based cab booking service in India, this morning launched a film online announcing a new service called Ola Air. As personal city based chopper service that can be accessed through their app. The launched featured their CEO and some elaborate features on the Ola Air App. The app even allows you to use their newly launched Ola Cafe food delivery service in the air. As the day would be it all turned out to be an April Fool’s prank from Ola. The company even created a fake microsite to give life to the idea. www.olaair.com. The  hastag #olaair is currently trending top ten on twitter in India. The announcement film was launched in the wee hours of the fool’s day.

Wall Street Journal Launches Global Brand Campaign

The Wall Street Journal today launched “Make Time,” its new global brand campaign, which features ambitious, successful and intellectually curious readers who make time to read the Journal. Created with The&Partnership agency, the campaign is set to run through June 30, 2015 and kicks off with Tory Burch, Chief Executive Officer, designer and philanthropist; Bill McDermott, Chief Executive Officer of SAP, entrepreneur and author; and will.i.am, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Ms. Burch, Mr. McDermott, and will.i.am represent the wide-ranging successes and interests of subscribers who reap the benefits of reading the Journal despite increasing demands on their time. Additional Journal readers will be joining the “Make Time” campaign during its run, including Mike McCue, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flipboard and Zhang Xin, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SOHO China, the largest prime office real estate developer in China.

Rakesh Nanda : Illustrator, Film Maker

Lipuster is the pen name of Rakesh Nanda, an award winning animation film maker, comic book artist and illustrator, who works mostly form the city of Mumbia in India.  He passed out with a Masters in Animation and Film Design from IDC, IIT Bombay in 2010 and has been freelancing since. He tries to capture the beauty of the ordinary everyday things around us, through his drawings and words.

“I’m in a journey, like everyone else, of finding myself. I have been drawing through school and after finishing my engineering, got a chance to pursue art professionally by getting through the Masters in Design Program at IIT Bombay. Since then I’ve been doing various illustration and animation projects for a lot of different clients and have been learning and improving with each. I’m also spiritually inclined (meditation and stuff) and am pretty sure that art and spirit are very closely related and the development of one leads to the development of the other.”

Why are you an Illustrator/film maker?
I’ve always loved to draw and tell stories through them. And for a long time from my schooldays I felt I was pretty good at it (that’s not what I feel now). That’s why I pursued it, in the hope of becoming one of the best in it.

Yamini PM : Illustrations

Yamini is a Dubai based Freelance Illustrator/Artist.. The artist was born in Kannur, Kerala. She spent her childhood and academic years in the beautiful Indian state, later graduating from the College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum, Kerala, in 2008. She currently lives in Dubai with her husband and daughter. From creative illustrations for corporate clients such as IBM, Titan, Deepam and others, to T-shirts designs, to portraits in charcoal of her favourite footballers, to murals, to graffiti, Yamini’s creative range is truly diverse. “Originality and fluidity seem the best words to describe the work of Yamini .

Why are you an Illustrator?
I love Art and love to express everything through art. While doing illustrations I can depict more surreal, imaginary and creative visuals. I love to do free, bold and power full lines and strokes. Which is easy to express feelings… easy to tell a story… etc.

Yes, I did my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum, Kerala.

Kurl-on : Leave Letter

Shivrathri is a Hindu festival which marks the marriage of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati. People stay awake on the night of the festival performing pujas and various other rituals. To engage with consumers who stay awake, Kurl-on the mattress brand (which promises ‘sound sleep’), did a innovative ad on the newspaper the following day. By clicking on a QR code, consumers were happy to see a mailbox open up with a leave letter in the mail body. They just had to key in their superior’s mail id and send the letter – to avail a day’s leave and much needed sleep on Kurl-on. India’s largest selling mattress brand.
