The MediaHolic Co : Digital Solutions for Brands

Well, we started in our heads long before we actually did. We are based out of Mumbai, the crazy city that makes everyone believe their dreams can come true.
Ours did when we actually did get our office.
We are a digital solutions company.
We don’t think we are a marketing agency; we do what great marketers can’t execute. We actually channelize their brand ideas and bring them to life and thus we give solutions. So we are a marketing partner essentially than an agency.

What made you start The Mediaholic Co.?
One afternoon of June 2015, we were having a candid talk over lunch. We all wanted to build something that we could call our own. We spend 70% of our day on social media, then why not use it effectively? That is when the thought of starting a digital marketing and web designing unit struck us.

Tell us about your designers/animators. Did they go into fine art or design schools? Or software? How do you pick them up?
We strongly believe that there is a creator in everyone, just a different kind. All our designers have not been to art schools. Their ability to think out of the box and aesthetic understanding makes them a valuable part of our team.

How would you define the design style at The Mediaholic Co.
Minimalistic, Edgy and Sophisticated

What does The Mediaholic Co. do which sets it apart from other digital agencies?
We have a flat hierarchy. No day is boring because we know how to make working fun.

Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up?
Steve Jobs, his sense of design and art set him apart.

Who was the most influential personality on your career in Brand Building?
Martin Sorrell, he is man that has seen years of advertising, adopted each new medium and mastered it. If we could be 10% as good, we will be ruling the brand world soon enough.

How important is the focus on good design in The Mediaholic Co.?
Design is the heart of everything we do. No Copy can work without a great Visual.

Do you function like a traditional advertising agency? Or would you call yourself more of a graphic design/branding/social media agency?
We are in every sense of word completely DIGITAL. Period.

What do you feel about the state of design in Brand Building in India?
A design defines a positioning of a brand. Your sense of design can say whether you are young, old, warm, quirky, sophisticated etc.
In India, while some people have clearly cracked the code, I see a lot of companies still struggle with their Brand designs.

How do you think that the digital arena will provide communication solutions to the clients?
Through digital marketing, the client’s reach to the customer is more efficient. It becomes easy for the customer to directly communicate with the company- questions, comments, issues etc. receive instant redressal.

Is Digital Marketing only limited to Social (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc.)? What else is there? Can you illustrate with an example?
Everything on the Internet is Digital Marketing. SEO, SEM, Content, Wikipedia, Blog and the works.

Any other Indian ‘Digital Agencies’ you admire?
Gozoop does some really good work we feel.

Can you share a successful case study of one of your campaigns?
For the Raksha Bandhan campaign for one of our clients (a premium men’s gifting e-commerce company), we had created illustrations in the form of 3 phases and WhatsApp conversations in which we showed the best emotional and funny moments shared by a brother and sister, which got a lot of engagements. We had also done a lot of product posts, all of which put together led to a lot of conversions.

Social media is often used for traffic/traction etc. Do you have any examples where it is used for brand building?
Everything you do on digital leads to brand building in small packs. Every tactical initiative leads.

What is your dream project?
Every project we had was once a dream. So no such dream project. The idea is to create the best out of the smallest opportunity.

What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Would you advise them to take on Digital Agency as a career option? Or Advertising and brand building?
If you have a crazy idea or a whacky solution to a problem, then you are a creative person. And if you are a creative person, it does not matter what you do, you will somehow land up in the digital industry.

What apps do you commonly use on your phones?
Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linked In. What else would the Mediaholics use!

Mac or PC?
Mac. PC. That is an on-going debate in our office. We haven’t arrived at a conclusion yet! Now typing with a bruised eye…

Who would you like to take out for dinner?
We enjoy the most with each-other… We think the others will have to wait till we get bored of one another 😛

Songs that our Mediaholics will tune into when all of them are saturated…
