NetBramha : Strategy and Design Studio

Netbramha studios is a full service strategy+design studio with a passion to craft functional products, platforms and compelling software experiences. We help businesses with the power of design. From serving fortune 500 customers to billion dollar startups our UI/UX practice has been delivered across web, mobile, touch and everything digital. We combine strategic thinking & design expertise to create impact.

What made you start NetBramha Studios?
The need of design in India. I believe design has the power to transform anything, anything at all!

Tell us about your designers/programmers. Did they go into fine art or design schools? How do you pick them up?
Our studio houses 25+ designers apart from the contract designers. Most of them have completed their graduation in design or picked up design from practice.
As long as designers can tell the difference between art and design we are happy to have a conversation with them for open positions. We hire for passion and excellence in craft. Rest really does not matter much.

Can you tell us the process of building a design language for a brandís UI?UX?
The process for building a ëBrandsí design language depends on three critical things
Design leadership
Design adoption
Markets / Platforms
Interestingly most people think only about the point no 3. Design leadership in the company directs the design adoption. If both these are not driving the design language, then seldom does it get implemented well.

How important is the focus on good design in NetBramha Studios?
Good is less. Great is better. But brilliance is what we strive for at the studio everyday.

What does NetBramha Studios do which sets it apart?
Strategy to simplify and Design to disrupt is our mantra. User experience design has become a key component of any product story today. We help startups, products, fortune 500 companies disrupt the business they operate in using design thinking. We identify unmet user needs, create new opportunities and help them to grow exponentially.

Tell us something about Design in the Digital Era.
I think today creation and distribution does not take time at all. The digital era has flattened the world like never before especially for design. So as designers we need to be uncomfortable and try new directions for true design to emerge.

Who was the most influential personality on your career in UI?UX?
I think India as a country has been a great influence on my design thinking. It has so much diversity and variables that it challenges you as a designer at every stage.

Do you work with any advertising agencies? Or mostly directly with brand teams at clientsí side? Or new Startups?
We work with agencies, fortune 500 companies, product firms and promising startups. Not to mention the NGOís and Govt backed institutions.

What do you feel about the state of design in India? Do you feel that our collective aesthetics of released work need to improve?
90% of Indian websites are running on designs that are over a decade old. We brought UX to India and now are focussed on getting design thinking to impact business and customer experiences. Design was always an afterthought in India but over the last few years this notion has completely changed. There was a period when Indian designers were ëokí being ëokí. But now things are much brighter. Every designer is hungry to grow and be the best he can. Design as a discipline has wider acceptance and relevance today.
We are on a cusp of design revolution in India and that ís extremely exciting.

What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Would you advise them to take on graphic design/UI/UX as a career option?
Hereís a link to 10 design lessons talk that I gave recently – https://speakerdeck.com/netbramha/10-design-lessons
Aspiring creative folks needs to collaborate more with other disciplines to gain better empathy & insight. Design is like boiling water, only at 100 degrees it becomes steam. Likewise donít give up until you are sure about the design.
Surely UI/UX is a great career choice. There is no doubt that the industry needs more of them. NetBramha is happy to hire & sometimes train designers on strategy & UX.

Who would your design team like to take out for dinner?
Dieter Rams & Da Vinci

What’s on the company iPod?
Coldplay, Chain smokers, Twenty one pilots, Kanye west, etc

Mac or PC?
I prefer Mac
