Probase, the hi-fashion streetwear brand from Basics Life, was launching their new range of light and comfortable cotton boxers for men. Continuing the brand tradition of breaking the retail industry clichés, Basics Life wanted a catchy, innovative packaging for the same. And we were only too glad to oblige.
To highlight the lightweight, airy nature of the boxers, we designed the pack to mimic the only other product that sold thin air – the potato chips packet. Quirkily and aptly named Machos, the package combined characteristic Probase wit and bold aesthetics to delectable effect.
The design proved to be a rip-roaring success at the stores, with the customers loving the irreverent humour and handy convenience. With over 2000 units sold in just 4 months since release, Machos ended up being one of the season’s bestsellers from the Basics Life stable, a lot like hot chips.

IBM was finding it increasingly difficult getting people to attend its seminars and conventions. Fewer and fewer wanted to travel and spend time out of office or home. So getting them to come to a new office opening seemed a task that had disaster written all over it. That was until Ogilvy came up with an invite with a difference. What invitees got was a large black box that contained a pouch of sand. Yes sand. The TA was instructed to pour the sand onto the enclosed plain white card and then read the message that appeared on it. How it worked was – the sand when poured and dusted off, got stuck to invisible gum on the white card, and revealed a message – “IBM Opens in Qatar”. An interactive device relevant to the desert city of Qatar. The task was very successful and had high recall. 340 invites were mailed out and 125 respondents attended. A 40% response rate. The entire exercise is now going to be replicated in other Middle Eastern markets.
Brief:
Planet Kids, Bangalore’s leading playschool chain wanted an invite to announce their Annual Day celebrations. This invite would be given to students and their parents. The objective was to create excitement around the event and get their kids buzzing.
Solution:
So we decided to create something out-of-the-ordinary, something that would engage their students and get them to transfer the buzz onto their parents. And voila, the ‘hand puppet’ invite was born!
BRIEF
Maraa is an NGO that employs media and art to influence the society’s quality of life, health and livelihood. They wanted an annual report that would not only sum up their year but also express everything they stand for.
SOLUTION
We took inspiration from the word ‘maraa’, meaning ‘tree’ in Kannada, and the fact that they are an NGO that works towards bettering society. Keeping this in mind we came up with a solution that was cost-effective and eco-friendly.
A single color design was created that could be reproduced using a simple photocopier or even by the most basic printer. All their information was made to fit on a single sheet to reduce wastage of both paper and ink. Folded many times over, it became a small portable booklet – that makes this the world’s cheapest annual report.
Brief: Planet Kids, Bangalore’s leading playschool chain wanted an invite to announce their Annual Day celebrations. This invite would be given to students and their parents. The objective was to create excitement around the event and get their kids buzzing. Oh, and of course the invite had to be cost-effective.
Solution: So we decided to create something out-of-the-ordinary, something that would engage their students and get them to transfer the buzz onto their parents. And voila, the ‘hand puppet’ invite was born out of a mere sheet of A4 sized paper. We then went on to create five unique characters so as to encourage greater curiosity, creativity and playfulness among our tiny TG.
