first thing to have a killer portfolio. You may wanna check adblogarabia and mediame.com, to get the latest on mid east agency scene. They do a lot of decent print work these days.
try having an online portfolio. blogspot is pretty simple and easy to use and it's free.
best is to shoot mails to the CDs with link to your site. It works. also try networking with senior creatives as well. since the CDs are busy and maynot be able to reply your mails the Senior ADs maybe able to push your name to the CDs if they like you work.

Hi
Hi, firstly I do think 2 years is a little less when trying for Dubai. Unless you have a sexy portfolio that is. Else with that limited experience, you won't get a good salary and with expenses mounting in Dubai, it won't be worth it for any kind of savings.
Having said that try with websites like Monster Middle East, Charterhouse Middle East and MBR Worldwide. Most of Dubai's agency sites are online and have a link to their HR/Recruitments, so mail them too.
Finally, send me a CV and an online portfolio link. shantyarow@yahoo.com
Thanks, Shanty, ECD, IKON Dubai

Re: How can i approach an agency in dubai for job
Good day to everyone,
After the recession, What is the job scene like, in Dubai? Even though I am here only; I wish to hear personal comments from all the desi creatives. It will help people to know whats the situation and will help people to come out of the frustration.
As far as I know, it seems there are more ads like "Situations Wanted" than "Situations Vacant" in this part of the world.
Good Luck to all.

Re: How can i approach an agency in dubai for job
Hey Riyas,
You'd asked about jobs in Dubai last March and subsequently sent me your work and your CV.
Well, around 15 months later, I'm sorry to say the situation has not improved much in Dubai. Lots of lay-offs and pay cuts in advertising (not to mention across industries here thanks to the global downturn and the crash in Dubai real estate, which was fueling Dubai's enormous growth from 2005 to 2008.)
Try your luck and send your CV/work across to agency creative heads here. But if I was to believe in what I see, the going would be tough for you.
Cheers, Shanty
P.S.: The situation in Dubai is not Situations Vacant. More like 'Vacant SItuation'!

Hi Riyas,
It's a really horrible time to consider shifting to dubai yaar. All my friends working in dubai are holding on to their jobs with their lives. If they haven't been retrenched yet, they have either taken a pay cut or are being made to serve notice periods. People are shifting to more financially stable places like abu dhabi, oman, bahrain, qatar, africa or even kazakhstan. I would suggest trying to tap these markets, speaking to vijay uchil (9821227584) or contacting www.mbrworldwide.com
Btw where are you working currently? All the best with your job hunt...
Cheers,
Ganapathy
