Academic project? What academic project?

Well, I am in the final semester or in the final days of the 'Master in Design' Course at IISc Bangalore. Formally, by the submission of the academic project, we will be given an 'M.Des.' degree in Product Design and Engineering. See: http://antzfxway.com/2009/09/27/design-brochure-cpdm/

I, along with Urvesh and Geo, am making 'Diva' -- a high tech dishwasher. I am the electronics/software guy in the team and my friends are mechanical engineers. More details later...

wow! antzfx, all the best for your exams. what do you plan to do after the course? product design?

When I was working, my Project Manager used to say that I work under pressure only. Well, even seconds before our project presentation, I was soldering a few wires and editing the code. God was with us and when I switched it ON, it worked for the first time in front of some 30 spectators. Even though we didn't have a PowerPoint presentation (and we lost marks for that), a lot of people praised our project.

We will be conducting a Degree Show called 'Ripples' probably on 9th and 10th of July. In this show, we will be showcasing our projects. If you are in Bangalore, you are most welcome to visit our department -- CPDM at Indian Institute of Science (locally known as 'Tata Institute').

My plans? So far I am unsuccessful in getting a job in Design Studios and Ad Agencies. May be because I am too old or because of my diverse background and experience. Three more interviews are planned in July. Let's see...

you seem to be getting a degree in product design. why would you want to work in an advertising agency?

Are ad agencies that bad?
While I did my internship at Rediffusion, I was designing kiosks, vending machines, table top displays, in-store displays... in 3D software. I loved the creative atmosphere there.

My Bachelor Degree is in Electronics and now the Masters in Product Design. Does that really matter? I just want to do something that I love than fitting into the frames of Electronics or Product Design.

Some of my friends also may not pursuit Product Design. One is into photography, another one is into Animation... Will we succeed in the fields of our choice?

Eventually, I hope.
