Harley Davidson Advertising: In Response to Royal Enfield
The Royal Enfield ads posted here have no soul. Someone has tried HARD to do something different. But that requires some soul searching, not a desire to art direct something that different.
I asked a few friends around if they would buy an Enfield. They would love to but they all complain of bad ride quality and leaking engines. What works for the brand is its heritage, the vintage and teh fact that its been around. The vintage looks really matter. For that matter someone even mentioned a URAL, if they could lay their hands on one.
Harley Davidson gains a lot from American pop and rock culture, the great Amercan outdoors legacy etc. What do we have to sell? We must find out. Bollywood and cricket and have pretty much kicked all cultural iconography out of India's present and past. The onlu surviving band with any kind of distict culture that we have today is Indian Ocean.
Here is some Harley advertising and imagery that I found, stuff that has helped build an iconic brand.

Re: Harley Davidson Advertising: In Response to Royal Enfield
here are some more. These ads do not make the audience feel like a wannabe, some sissy who's only interest in life is to get laid. There are higher goals to achieve.

Re: Harley Davidson Advertising: In Response to Royal Enfiel
Agree with you, Saumya. The Harley Davidson advertising is for the adult, while the Enfield is for the adolescent.
