MEET THE HEART
Six years ago, we started a little experiment now called Zomato. This month, over 30 million people will use this little experiment to ensure that their next meal is not a disappointment.
Looking back, we loved our food too much to go with predictable choices. So we built something that would help everyone discover more than the usual. Before we knew it, our colleagues and friends were using this treasure trove of information, encouraging us to do more. Now, after 6 years, with some distance behind us, we had the time to ask ourselves a few questions – Why do we do what we do? And what exactly are we doing?
At the stage we are at, it is important to have answers to these questions. The answers would mean a lot to our new team members, giving them a reason to live and work at Zomato, and also make a difference in our users’ lives.
At the heart of Zomato, we are all about “people and food”. We are about people who love, and live, to eat. We believe that life is too short for a bad meal, or an inadequate experience when you are eating out. Our goal is to ensure that every meal, for all our users, is a great experience. We do this by guiding our users to places that help create unique and memorable food experiences for them. We also raise the bar for the restaurant industry by making restaurants accountable to their customers.
However, the one thing we felt we hadn’t done well enough so far is tell our story through the brand. So we decided that we needed to tell this story, as simply as we started it. We needed to articulate why we are doing what we are doing. And be able to do it in a very simple manner.
In short, we needed a new logo. A logo that told our story. A logo that stands for what we do; what our mission is. And after more than a few weeks of work, we have an answer.
This logo symbolically, and literally, stands for the love of good food. It also symbolises our connection with those who share our passion for food. The people who love, and live, to eat.
Over time, I hope this logo reminds us of our mission in everything we do. The mission to ensure that every meal, for all our users, is a great experience.
I’ll end with a toast to these new beginnings for Zomato. A toast to the people who love food. After all, like Julia Child said, the people who love food are the best people.

Re: Zomato's New Logo & Story
I like the idea of 'love of good food'. But I personally feel the execution could have been slightly better.
Because of the short length of the fork it looks like a spading fork. The cutlery fork has the handle at least 3-4 times the tines. Having said that I don't mean one should literally go by the real proportions but one should also avoid something that could connote a different meaning.
Another thing, it also looks like the heart being stabbed by the fork. The colour red adds to it.
But these are my personal views. I would love to hear what others think too.
Overall I like the logo. 4.5 stars out of 5.

Agree..and proportions should be adhered to other wise it does look like a pitch fork or ice pick or whatever cutlery sophisticated people use.pixelfiesta wrote:

I got the stabbing thing now. Its like cupid's fork instead of his arrow - love of food --- which is kinda a cool thought.Another thing, it also looks like the heart being stabbed by the fork. The colour red adds to it.
3 stars out of 5 - My usual rating for things that are good enough but not great

Nice logo. Good service. Just shows you dont need big money backing to do good stuff.
Truth Hurts. But bad advertising hurts even more.
