Why might Marie Antoinette have told them to eat hot dog?

Post by jitesh »

Hi,

Because she’s holding one on the cover of Lürzer’s Archive Food & Drink 2000-2010

Numbering no less than 330 pages, the new special showcases the most outstanding print campaigns and TV spots from the category Food & Drink to have appeared in the magazine over the past decade, classified by individual subcategories within this segment.

We invited our facebook community to choose the cover from 6 brilliant campaigns.

The choice was between a McDonald’s poster done by DDB Stockholm, a beer ad from Catalan agency Caldas Naya, an ad for soy sauce from TBWA\Hong Kong, a chilli powder campaign from the Crayons agency in New Delhi, an ad by Leo Burnett, Milan, for chocolate confectionery filled with coffee, and a smashed orange for Chupa Chups by George Patterson Y&R, Melbourne.
This survey gave our FB page the highest reach ever: a total of 100,736 hits, with 1,662 users actually engaging in the selection process. The winning cover - “Marie-Antoinette,” from the campaign by Caldas Naya for Alsatian beer A. K. Damm, which was given final approval to appear on the cover by Editor-in-Chief Michael Weinzettl - received over one-third of the votes.
The brand to feature most frequently in the volume is McDonald’s, with eight ads, followed by Heinz with seven entries. In beers, Stella Artois (six) narrowly beat out Guinness (five), and in non-alcoholic drinks there was a dead heat between Pepsi and Evian (each with three campaigns). All in all, 230 ad campaigns from the millennium’s first decade made it into the compilation and were assigned to the following categories: Beverages: Alcoholic, Beverages: Non-Alcoholic, Food, Confectionery & Snacks, and Bars & Restaurants.
The special, which upholds the exceptionally high quality standards to which readers of Lürzer’s Archive products have become accustomed, costs € 33.50

Sounds lie a great book, and at 2500 roughly, sounds like a good price as well.
