Salaries for Design Professionals

Everywhere we look around, we see the work of some designer. Either architecture, cars, billboards, ticketss, restaurants, menus etc. But how come design professionals dont make as much as MBAs and engineers?

We want to buy a product primarily because its cool. Much of the cool factor comes from Design. But no one wants to cough up money for design.

Are you happy with your pay? How much do you earn?

In our Design Shop we make about 60 lakhs a year after paying rent and salaries for 4 employees. This we split between two partners. Not enough to buy an Aston Martin.

I am a copywriter. I think writers typically get a little more than art directors. and we rise faster.

a branch creative director writer friend of mine has a package of 45 lakhs, if I am not mistaken.

well, thats a rare case. Its like staying all actors make millions because shah rukh khan does. most actors are struggling it out in the bylanes of Mumbai. I have some friends there as well.

See this Acquent Advertising Salary Survey, although its from 2007, because of the recession etc, I dont think the numbers would have changed beyond some 10%

advertising salaries ate actually quiet high. and add to it the bribes that agency guys make

yeah, this bribes thing is quiet rampant! especially true from film producers. I noticed soon after a big film or such, some CDs come to office flaunting their iPads and iPhones.
