ANother Bengali in delhi (Partho moves to DY&R Delhi)...
Always good to see good old bengalis progressing from Calcutta.
Partho Sengupta has joined as creative director at Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi.
Sengupta began his career in the advertising field 12-13 years back with Lowe (then Lintas), Kolkata. After nearly three years there, he moved on to work with Bates Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus), Delhi, as creative consultant. Later, he joined as senior art director at Mudra Communications, Delhi, where he stayed for the next three years.
After short stints at Saatchi & Saatchi, Delhi and Euro RSCG, Delhi, Sengupta switched to Cheil Communications, where he was creative director for two years. From Cheil, he had a short stint at Dentsu Marcom, Delhi. (from agencyfaqs!)

Aaaah....I have a grudge agaisnt people who think Calcutta means bengali or vice versa. Me and some non-bong friends of mine, who are from Calcutta and working in delhi, believe we are as much Calcutta as a bengali. Infact, everytime anybody tells me 'that's so bong bout me, I reply, that's Calcutta in me.
Once a Calcuttan , always a Calcuttan.

i am from kolkata and YES a bong - now i do not know whether partho's got any hi-fi awards or not. what i do know that at the level of the hierarchy Partho's joined requires skill. at his level he has to bring superior creatives out of his entire team - a job far more complicated and tough than just ideating and executing creatives after reading the underpants (our ad agency a/c execs are far, far away from delivering proper "briefs").
so whether or not Partho's got any awards is not the question. what is eagerly anticipated is how many awards will his agency get during his term. not to mention the amount of business too.
and, by the way, bongs are actually more superior to their other indian counterparts when it comes to ideation, writing and art.
so there!

life-joke, how can you just say bongs are more superior? calcutta advertising is hardly known for great work. do not blame on the economy. if they were that good the industry would be thriving. name one top bong CD in India?
Gone are the days of Gullu Sens...and btw, let's see some great work from you Mr. Playboy.

guys and gals don't give this regional flavour to a coversation, it stinks. and gullu is not at all from cal. i have worked closely with him in rediff and dentsu...and he is very much a punjabi and a bengali and a gujrati and a kannadiga. etc. etc. etc. that's what makes great advertising people i think

arjun u r right, we are all desi creatives. i think life_joke is just taking a piss of some of us here...he is funny. but really i think we had some great bongs in advertising just like from other indian communities. i have great respect for people like subhas ghoshal, ram ray and not to forget the greatest of them all satyajit ray.
life-joke who are you, come out in the open
