BarCamp is an international network of user-generated conferences (or unconferences). They are open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants.
The first BarCamps focused on early-stage web applications, and were related to open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats. The format has also been used for a variety of other topics, including public transit, health care, and political organizing.
The first BarCamp was held in Palo Alto, California, from August 19–21, 2005.
Courses are:
Master in Design -- Interaction Design at IDC, IIT Bombay
Post Graduate Diploma -- Information & Interface Design at NID, Bangalore Campus
It depends on the company and their field (Mobile platforms, Web pages, Application) on whether you need to have programming knowledge or not. The important thing is visualizing workflows, solving problems and usability analysis. If you know HTML, CSS and Photoshop, Dreamweaver, AfterEffects -- you are good to go.
I must say that my skills are self acquired as I didn't have the chance to get a formal education in Interface Design. I mainly did "Watch, Read, Do and Learn." I love it!
@basant kumar, @shikharkamat and @Paromita -- Thank you for the encouraging words.
All the logo designs I do are for clients. I generally (there are exceptions) don't participate in competitions (No Spec!). Barcamp is a non-profit thing and in the past it has bought a lot of traffic to my websites. At the moment I have an idea for BCB11 logo!
