Dear All,
I recently got a chance to design a logo for
Namma Cycle, a Bangalore University Bike Sharing Experiment.
To know more about the design process that went behind this, please do

Flowers and brick bats please!
Thanks.

nice looking logo. did you not think of taking the two 'a's of the logo and makingbicycle wheels?

While working in Photoshop, I tried to add some spokes. After modifying the two 'a's, to maintain uniformity, the bicycle doodle also was given spokes in the wheels.
Then I felt the whole thing is cluttered and removed them.
Also, for the first time, I learned the importance of tangential spokes in the bicycle compared with that of the spokes of, say, a bullock cart. The bullock cart spokes are under constant compression as the weight of the cart compresses the one spoke directly in contact with the road. This is not a good design as the spokes can damage easily.
In bicycles/motor bikes and vintage cars, the spokes are always in tension because of its unique tangential position to the hub and rim! It is difficult to imagine this, but all the spokes share a part of the weight and this is an efficient design.
One more trivia: The bicycle wheel design is originally designed by an engineer to be used as a landing gear for the earlier airplanes (or powered gliders).

wow! Didnt know the spokes were tangetial to share the weight. I never even gave it a thought that spokes are tangential! Awesome!
But I still think you could have used the two 'o's.

More opinions are coming in saying that the doodle looks like ‘Ha’ in Kannada , ‘ya dhva’ in Gujarati and 'ള്’ in Malayalam!
