Buy a Kit Kat and watch a music video on your chocolate wrapper.
Recently, each four-finger bar of Kit Kat in the UK came printed with an augmented reality marker. ‘Scan’ the wrapper via webcam on the Kit Kat UK website, and you’ll be able to view an exclusive Scouting For Girls’ “Silly Song” music video in 3D, as well as bonus content from the band.
Designed by London-based digital creative agency Skive, the AR packaging is part of Kit Kat's Music Break ad campaign. While we're not too keen on the music, we do like the pop-up book effect created in the video.
The popularity of the campaign could encourage more augmented reality-based packages; it would definitely be interesting to see how such virtual designs might be used for other products.
