Ad Club Bombay launches contest; students to win free trip to Spikes Asia

The Advertising Club Bombay has taken up an initiative in association with the Times of India Group to give a chance to the young upcoming talent in the advertising industry to represent the country at the Spikes Asia advertising festival, to be held on September 19-21 in Suntec, Singapore. The initiative is meant for students of all institutes of media and advertising, who can participate in a contest and win a free trip to attend the festival.

Like the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, Spikes Asia also encourages regional talent in the advertising segment. It is the region's oldest and most prestigious awards for creative advertising, rewarding the best entries in categories such as TV, Cinema, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Digital, Integrated (Jade Spikes), Direct and Sales Promotion, Media, Print Craft, TV or Cinema Craft and Design.

Six juries comprising leading people from the international and regional creative fields judge the entries during the festival week. Apart from the awards recognising outstanding work in the Asia Pacific region, it builds a learning platform by bringing the pioneers of the advertising world together and enabling exchange of ideas through various seminars and workshops.

Students pursuing courses in advertising, communication or marketing and possessing a valid Indian passport are eligible to take part in the contest. Each institute can send in a maximum of 10 participants, who have to register their names at the office of The Advertising Club Bombay by August 6 (10 am-5 pm).

The selection process will be done through an interview, which is scheduled to take place on August 10. Based on the performance at the interview, two finalists will be selected, who will also be judged by the sponsors of the Spikes Academy Asia. The winners will be awarded a sponsored seat at Spikes Asia and represent India at the festival.

The Spike Academy also gives a learning opportunity to students from selected regions. Apart from participating in the regular workshops and seminars at the festival, these students have access to personalized sessions and tutorials from top industry figures.
