madonna is right. this is some kind of a social media initiative with teh traditional media space. let the common people send in their complainst etc and that builds some kind of an interactive active media space. nice.

but it never leads to anything. we as a community do precious little. we are not great community builders, but are more of self centered people.

social does. remember the campaigns against throwing paan thook in delhi where the ads targeted the kids getting upset at their parents throwing paan spit all over the place? they worked. so did many campaigns for pulse polio etc.

I think she was trying to say that if a new brand like Uninor had effective advertising, effective in the sense that its supposed to be, then a lot of people would adopt the brand. But clearly Uninor, as of now, is NOT the top of the mind desirable brand for new cell phone subscribers. Its still Airtel and Vodafone etc. So in that sense Uninor's advertising hasnt been effective.

The public sector has been making sucessful campaigns, though...
Truth Hurts. But bad advertising hurts even more.
