Yahoo!, which has recently revamped its homepage and upgraded its other properties such as e-mail and search, has rolled out a global ad campaign titled 'It's You', to gain and engage more users worldwide.

The company has announced to pump in close to $100 million on the ad campaign globally.

When afaqs! contacted Nitin Mathur, director, marketing, Yahoo! India to figure out the advertising budget allocated for the India market, Mathur declined to comment on the same. He says, "Yahoo! has not specified the advertising budget allocated to each market separately."

However, as per the industry estimates, Yahoo! India will spend up to Rs 60 crore on 'It's You' advertising campaign in the next 12 months. with a downright sad advertising campaign liek this, I dont think Yahoo! will be able to gather much brand image in the face of brands like FaceBook and Google. Especially with Google's excellent marketing abilities and the buzz its generating aropund 'Wave'.

Yahoo!'s trailing far behind and seems like fighting a losing battle. They have lost the search battle and the online advertiaing battle as well.

The only exciting property they seem to be having is Flickr.

Maybe they should offer more money to content publishers, so that more publishers move over to Yahoo ads, creating a bigger market for them. Google adsense sucks big time. Its a losing battle for publishers with Google.
