In September 2008, Samsung, one of our clients, was thinking of giving away a 40" LCD/Plasma TV at the price of a 32".
Instead of doing a usual radio spot, we thought we could break clutter by producing the world's longest radio spot...a 2 minute 15 seconder...yes, 135 seconds!
The idea was since Samsung now gave you the option to live big, how about a big radio spot.
Again, we had to break clutter in Dubai's airwaves, which were ruled by fast, breathless pieces of hard sales, high information spots. So, we took a nice relaxed rendition and even cocked a snook at what was happening on radio spots.
Client loved it, but alas, the promotion never came through.
So the big idea on a big radio spot died a little death.
Hear this and I would love to hear from you what you thought about it.
Cheers, Shanty

Re: The world's longest radio spot
the whole thing didnt play through...
Re: The world's longest radio spot
the original file had some proprietary Windows Codec because of which it wasnt playing on unsupported Mac/Unix/Linux machines. I have uploaded a native mp3 format which should play across platforms. Thanks to Audacity.
Nice one Shantesh. But maybe should have been more gripping somewhere in the middle? What do you think?

Re: The world's longest radio spot
Param, firstly thanks for fixing the techno bug. All gobbledygook to poor old moi, but as long as it works, cheers again.
Yep, totally agree with you that the middle portion is a little snooze inducing. The thing is that the MVO is that of the producer, Madhu Pillai. If client had okayed the spot, we would have got it recorded through a professional ISDN voice, and would have ensured that interest is maintained throughout the 135 seconds.
The idea was more to attempt and experiment something like this.
Cheers, Shanty

i agree with param, but is this really the world's longest radio spot? there's none longer?
Truth Hurts. But bad advertising hurts even more.
