Would someone from IIM ever go to join advertising? Sounds like kind of silly and futile. There are much better opportunities outside advertising, and the new age companies are more 'creative' in their approach than a traditional agency. Chaicopy, do you have an advertising education background?

About Northpoint
The Northpoint Centre of Learning, in association with Lintas, has announced a full time Post Graduate Programme in Advertising and Marketing Communications (PGPAMC). This 14-month programme is the only one of its kind in India, where students will get a comprehensive training in advertising and marketing communications.

The program commences with a rigorous theory module, covering all aspects of marketing, advertising and communications. The centre is located in the residential, state-of-the-art, scenic Northpoint, on the slopes of Khandala. The centre is founded by Lintas Employees' Welfare Trust.

PGPAMC includes a stint in the field, as a sales trainee with blue-chip clients, a rigorous field training in rural communications, practical training in areas of integrated marketing and in areas of personality development and soft skills.

The students will also be given an all-round development in areas of physical well-being and sports, using the swimming, tennis, squash, gymnasium and other facilities at Northpoint.

The highlight of the course is that in the third semester, students have to choose an elective and depending on the area selected, they would be placed in one of the Lintas group companies for hands-on training, guided by mentors. The course culminates in an industry-wide placement programme and deserving students will be offered appointment in the Lintas group of companies.

"Our industry suffers from lack of good talent and there is no course in India which combines rigorous theory with a practical, hands-on training in the field of advertising and marketing. We want to ensure that a student completing this course emerges as a well trained, well-rounded professional, ready to commence his career with the correct attitude. Besides academicians, the best practising professionals in the industry will be a part of the faculty, helping us produce professionals that the industry will be proud of", said Ashish Bhasin, Director - IMAG, Lintas India, who is also the programme director for the PGPAMC.

The programme commences on February 1, 2005 and the applicants will be put through a scientific selection procedure. December 8, 2004 is the last date for sending applications.

Further details on the course can be obtained on the Northpoint website, www.northpointindia.com.
