I am appalled at some of us desi creatives running after B-grade phoren directors and photographers when we have such great talent in india. I have also seen that sometimes these little known phoren directors have no respect in their own countries but we lay out the red carpet for them.
Isn't it time we take directors only on the basis of their showreel and not their passport?
Do we need phoren (FOREIGN) film directors???

Firang directors? No way! We have enough good ones of our own. The kind of money given out to a firang director here in india, will naturally eliminate the really good ones and only the entry level ones are left. I would rather hire an experienced indian director who understands the nuances of our culture, rather than an entry level firang, keen on making a showreel, and us getting excited because he is a gora.
Important thing to note: india is perhaps the only country in the world, where hollywood has not been able to make a dent. Our own cinema stands strong against the might of hollywood. Theres something to be learnt from there.
