Today, I happened to stumble on to https://in.yahoo.com and realized that YAHOO! has a new logo since last month. I don't use any YAHOO! apps (I even read my YAHOO! mail in GMail app), and that's why this logo redesign escaped me.
The Culprit
The design is done by Pentagram and this is the project detail published by them:

The 'y!' monogram is very interesting.
If I had the chance...
Whenever I see a design, I always think what will I do differently, if I had the chance...
In this case, I might have added a hint of the alphabet 'o' in the exclamation mark of 'y!' monogram.
Might not work in small print, but this has a huge potential in digital media.
What do others say?

Re: From YAHOO! to yahoo!
Interesting. I don't think much of the logo. Doesn't look like a lot of hard work went into it. Looks like Futura Extra Bold.
It has the character of Futura Bold. Except that Futura bold seems a little horizontally expanded.
I dont know what really is Yahoo! now. Is it an email service? Is it news? Its website is cluttered. Its email doesn't have enough spam protection. What happened to Flickr? How about starting with a refreshed vision?

Re: From YAHOO! to yahoo!
One interesting thing popped up while looking at the 'y!' monogram was that Pentagram is talking about 'angles' and 'slices' as a new design trend. This time around, they are talking about 22.5 degrees of angle (from the vertical).
================================================
hp logo (1941) claims an angle of 13 degrees (from the vertical).
================================================
DeviantArt logo (2014) claims an angle of 28 degrees (from the vertical). Inspiring! Let me go offline now to create a logo with a 20 something degrees of angle!

New logo doesn't do anything to me.
