Ek Kanya :my daily ramblings
this is my first post on desicreative forums, using it like a 'Blog', or should I call it 'Chog' for Chat-Log. Please don't ask for my name or where I live or work or any such personal details, because I am going to go personal on this, without of course mentioning names.
Right now am in Gurgaon sipping green tea and looking out of an office window at the large scale construction happening around. And a myena trying to dig a worm out, in the midst of all this...
Stay in touch, and I will try and write everyday. Who knows there might be something interesting too...

Love the milk shakes at BigChill. Mantis (my friend who's always praying for something better) and Crocodile (well, she's always crying about the client) make for good company. Delhi's good fun.
Re: Ek Kanya :my daily ramblings
coffee and muffin. can you identify the coffee shop?
Mantis and Croc and I binged on Blueberry Cheese Cakes and Muffins. After all you only live once...
(speaking of coffee, it seems drinking coffee reduces the risk of breast cancer in women, and may also reduce breask size! see here)

Re: Ek Kanya :my daily ramblings
we had to go to this recording studio in the evening for a jingle. i picked up a Cost Coffee Latte on the way. what I liked was the texture of the paper used to make the disposable glass. wonder how much it cost them.
I just LOVE coffee!
Trivia!
It seems Costa Coffee has over 760 stores in UK alone!
Heres their Uk Online

Re: Ek Kanya :my daily ramblings
did u take this picture? is this the paper texture u were talking about? very cool! i love coffee too
Re: Ek Kanya :my daily ramblings
yes kikikikikiki, i shot this picture and this is the paper 'glass/cup'. the wavy shapes are at least 2 mm thick and its great fun to hold this cup.
worked through the weekend (as usual, servicing people get in a brief on friday evening, hound you out of your homes on a saturday or sunday) so was too sore to post anything yesterday. we made some new logos and packaging for a client. nice stuff.
i see tremendous opportunity in design in india. look at the barista and ccd outlets to begin with. their paper cups, posters, store design, communication etc all needs a facelift. look at our street signages. lok at our local magazines like Filmfare, Femina, India Today etc all look sooooooooo old school. so much needs to be done. Most of the journalistic photography is also quiet sad. reportage photography as published in the New York Times or even Newsweek magazine is far superior to our Outlooks and Times of India.
I hope there will be some business minded design shop owners and some visionary clients who will understand this and invest in design.
I was speaking to a friend and he mentioned that design shops pay so little that anyone who is a little intelligent will opt for a higher pay field. Someone I knew who had a design degree from abroad was getting some 25k a month, gross pay. quiet bad. How to sustain talent then?
i too would have worked in a design boutique but for the money. advertising pays well and its easy money. relatively easier than trying o run your own design shop and getting some homegrown company to appreciate the value of design.

The dogcow, also known as Clarus the Dogcow, is a bitmapped image first introduced by Apple. It is the shape of a dog with nose and spots that look like a Holstein cow, originally created in 1983 as part of the Cairo font by Susan Kare as the glyph for 'z'. The original dogcow was named Clarus by Apple employees. The sound she makes is "Moof!"
The name Clarus is similar to that of Apple's former office-software unit, Claris.
The image of the dogcow was used to show the orientation and color of the paper in Mac OS page setup dialog boxes. HCI engineer Annette Wagner made the decision to use the dog from the Cairo font as a starting point for the page graphic. Annette edited the original font and created a larger version with spots more suitable for demonstrating various printing options. The new dog graphic had a more bovine look, making it arguably less clear as to what animal it was intended to be, and after the print dialog was released the name "dogcow" came into use.
When the dogcow was removed from the print dialog in Mac OS X, many people[who?] requested that Apple bring it back. The dogcow image had virtually reached cult status. It is an Apple Developer Tech Support group mascot.
