Would you still use cricketers for your ads?
Ok, we all have seen the dismal showing of indian tigers at world cup. my question to all u guys is that when will we stop glamourising loser cricketers in our ads?
personally I feel the cricketers should be asked for a refund of endorsement monies. as long as clients and silly startegists decide going with celebrities is the safe option for advertising, we will be stuck with some celebs to force fit into our ads.
I wonder if the Volkswagen Beetle would have been such a big hit, had they been doing the typical celebrity endorsement route. instead of, well, the 'Lemon' route.
Does anyone know of a great brand built around celebrity endorsement? I am sure there is SOME somewhere...

may have reportedly decided to dump Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its brand ambassador following his dismal World Cup show, but Kolkata-based Exide Industries has no such plans.
Exide seems content to give Team's India swashbuckling wicket-keeper-batsman MS Dhoni the benefit of the doubt and retain him as brand ambassador till at least November 2007 when Dhoni's two-year contract is scheduled to expire.
"We don't judge anyone by his performance in such a short span. Therefore, there is no question of Exide sacking Dhoni as brand ambassador just because India couldn't do well in the World Cup," said Mr S B Ganguly, executive chairman and CEO, Exide Industries said.
