To Europa,

What you said is quite true, i am still an undergrad in an art school from Singapore. In the past 2 years, I always felt that i dont have enough time for my projects and always believe that i always have no time for free lances. But now when i think back, i realized that i spent alot of times on games and comics. And the fact is that, if i really use my time, i think the school projects is actually very little. Thats why recently i worked very hard on my final year projects and after i finish it, i will post it and have your comments on it. Thx...

Thx Kanya!

Yeah, games and comics is good for relaxing, but i made myself into a very big trouble because i played too much DOTA(warcraft 3) with alot of friends. And i slacked until very terrible, from a decent student until a very very bad record student. So this game is a drug to me! but i deleted it myself and working very hard now so that i can have a good show on my final assessment day and a great show on my Grad show. I only play those easy and funny short games for a while to relax abit then continue back to work. Anyway, thx for that, Kanya!

Wow! Similar addiction here man. Although with me, it has never marred my work. Rather, I've got some of my best ideas after playing games.

Been playing FIFA since 2002/03. No matter what time I get back home, I try to play atleast one game. Days I get home early is an added bonus! Haven't tried Warcraft yet. I think I'm gonna get Call of Duty next!

Coming to the main topic, I'd imagine having time differs from group to group. Sometimes, I have a spree of overnights. Sometimes I get done as early as 7.15pm. I come in at 9.15 am and plan my day before doing anything else. If I had one complaint, that'd be my "half-day" on Saturdays. I wish I had Saturdays off!

Time Management

Post by shantyarow »

ON WEEKDAYS WITH WIFE:

6 hours - Sleep
11 hours - Work
2 hours - Self (reading/writing/tv/music/surfing)
5 hours - Wifey (compulsorily)

ON WEEKENDS WITH WIFE:

8 hours - Sleep
4 hours - Self*
16 hours - Wifey*

* Except if there is a cricket match with India, in which case the 7 hours of the match are to be deducted.

N.B.: Sleep for both above is with wifey too! (lest someone reads too much into this!)

Of course, I must mention this has been possible only in Dubai. When in Mumbai (where I had been married 3 of my 7 years in advertising), I hardly got to see my wife.

I guess everyone has their own ways of adjusting. Luckily for me, my wife works in a high-stress environment too, and she too realises the vagaries of the same. But yes, we do try and combine as many chores like cooking, shopping, etc together, so we have in effect more time for ourselves.

All the best to the bachelors out there. Enjoy your life till you get married and start enjoying it more!

1) Yipeee!!! I'll be in office on republic day too. Thank heavens I don't have a wife to deal with.

2) @ Shanty: You haven't mentioned travel times. I spend 2.5 hrs just commuting.

3) My CD always says, "Work smart. Not hard." So it'll be great if the experienced guys around can tell us how they manage time.

Cheers all.

Mr Monstrous Hirsute Rana Pipiens,

Why should I include your travelling time for 2.5 hours?

Takes me just 1 hour both ways from home to office!

And who says I'm not experienced after 10 years in advertising...so read my mantras again!!!

:D

Hello Daryl, you can get along in India just fine with English in the workplace and soon you will leanr about enought to manage on the streets. most of your friends and workmates will be speaking english only.

Commuting time in India is killing. Try commuting in Mumbai from Andheri to Lower Parel. And donk ask me to shift closer to office sicne i cant afford it. Not with the salaries that agencies pay here.
