Nike: Augment Your Reality

With AR becoming the new buzzword after 'virals' we thought it deserved a forum of its own.

Nike: Augment Your Reality

Post by Paramvir »

Sometimes reality can be a bummer--summer jobs, busted ankles and lobster-red sunburns. Well, now you've got a chance to step out of the mundane and into the insane. Your friends at Nike 6.0 just dug up the latest tech to hit the streets and are delivering it straight to your computer. It's called Augmented Reality and it brings a simple print ad to life in 3-dimensional madness.

Here are 5 easy steps you've gotta do to make it pop off:

1) Make sure you have a webcam hooked up to your computer. No webcam = No 3D madness.

2) If you've been fortunate enough to get your hands on the banging Dusty Payne or Mike Spinner ads that were featured in the US Open of Surfing or Dew Tour spectator guides, keep that handy because you'll need it. If not, download the Dusty ad here and the Spinner one here.

3) Download the 6.0 augmented reality file to your computer. For PCs, click here. For those of you with Macs, this link is for you.

4) Launch the Nike_6_0_AR.exe file that you just downloaded, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the application. It should only take 1-2 minutes to set up!

5) Once you initiate the application, all you need to do now is put the Dusty Payne or Mike Spinner ad in front of your webcam and watch the action come to life in 3-D (press 1,2,3 or 4 on your keyboard to change the videos).

Just sit back and enjoy the show.
